FOSSGIS is coming to Heidelberg! From 9–13 March 2027, HeiGIT and the GIScience Research Group at Heidelberg University will help host the FOSSGIS Conference 2027 on the Heidelberg University campus, together with FOSSGIS and the OpenStreetMap community.
The FOSSGIS Conference is the largest event in the German speaking region dedicated to Free and Open Source geospatial software, Open Data, and OpenStreetMap. It brings together people from research, development, practice, and the wider open geospatial community to share ideas, learn from each other, and discuss the latest developments.
The five day program includes talks, demos, academic sessions, lightning talks, workshops, community sessions, excursions, an OpenStreetMap Saturday in BarCamp format, and a Community Sprint. Topics range from OpenStreetMap and geodata analysis to Open Science, digital sovereignty, and other developments in the open geospatial field.
HeiGIT will also contribute to the conference program with talks from our team.
We are looking forward to welcoming the FOSSGIS community to Heidelberg in March 2027!
