The congress, which is organized by geography students from all over Germany and hosted by GeoDACH e.V., has the motto “creative. critical. changing. – Young perspectives on geography”.

HeiGIT is hosting a session on inequalities and bias in OpenStreetMap, covering topics such as spatial inequality, bias in various forms and data quality. The session provides a framework to present short inputs followed by a discussion and to bring together different perspectives from geoinformatics and human geography.

Inequalities and Bias in OpenStreetMap – Benjamin Herfort, Friday, 19/09/2025, 9 – 10:30

In addition, there will be a contribution on the Sketch Map Tool, our tool for data collection, digitization and georeferencing of local spatial knowledge. Students from the Department of Geography at Heidelberg University will be presenting their research on “The impact of new inclusive superblocks on urban noise pollution: Mannheim case study”.

We are also looking forward to meeting partners and friends such as FOSSGIS e.V. and OpenStreetMap, as well as discussing ideas with young geographers.
