Government agencies and humanitarian organizations need the most detailed information possible on local conditions and situations. Only then can they efficiently allocate their resources and take preventive measures—particularly to protect vulnerable populations. Integrating spatial data and technology into critical decision-making processes can significantly strengthen societal resilience against the challenges posed by climate change and, ultimately, reduce the impact of disasters.
In his lecture, Prof. Zipf will discuss the challenges of the climate crisis and how geographic information can be used to support international aid organizations in crisis situations. Using examples from collaboration, he will highlight the relevance of an intelligent interplay between geographic information regarding climate change, critical infrastructure, and affected populations.
The lecture will take place at 6 pm in the Domhofsaal in Ladenburg (Hauptstraße 7, 68526 Ladenburg). The event is made possible by the Daimler and Benz Foundation.
