Missing Maps
Missing Maps is an initiative led by humanitarian organizations to fill critical gaps in OpenStreetMap (OSM) by mapping areas vulnerable to natural disasters and other threats, even before emergencies strike. This geospatial data is vital for implementing preventive measures and supports both local and international relief efforts during crises.
Since 2015, HeiGIT has supported the Missing Maps project by monitoring and visualizing its progress and impact. Using data from the HOT Tasking Manager and our ohsome framework, we provide insights into the initiative’s achievements.
