The armed conflicts surrounding Iran in recent months have once again brought a country and a region in the Middle East into the spotlight of public interest. This lecture will attempt to trace the path of development that has led to the current war situation, i.e., to shed light on current events and conflicts against the backdrop of Iran’s historical and geographical specifics, to analyze its role in the Middle East region, and to draw conclusions about future developments.
