Attendees of the AGILE 2024 conference will explore the crucial role of geographic information science (GIS) in the relationships between the environment, society, and the economy. We at HeiGIT are happy to announce that members of our team will be part of the conference.

In the 2024 summer semester, oceans and coasts will be a focus of Heidelberg Geography.

The event will showcase the university's knowledge and technology transfer, spotlighting projects across four focal areas: socially relevant, industrial, sustainable and tangible.

The conference was established to address rapid urbanisation in Africa and the corresponding challenges for transport and infrastructure.

The first Mapathon this year will be on February 7th.

We are very pleased to host guest speaker Sebastián Block Munguía from the Yale Center for Environmental Law and Policy (Yale University), who will give a talk on “Spatial datasets to assess countries' environmental performance”.

Prof. Dr. Alexander Zipf, Scientific and Managing Director at HeiGIT and Professor of Geoinformatics / GIScience (GIS) at Heidelberg University, will give a lecture on the topic “Climate Protection and Humanitarian Aid: Support from Geoinformatics.”
